Sly Park Recreation Area, Lake Jenkinson
Sly Park at Lake Jenkinson ranks in my top five for local recreational areas. Firstly, Lake Jenkinson is gorgeous! The beautiful trees of the El Dorado National Forest and seasonal changes are stunning. Second, the park offers several amenities. Folsom, American River
Folsom is one of those great towns with much to offer. It is a playground for a fitness-minded resident or outdoorsy visitor. From lake access to walking paths there are a lot of options. One area that I particularly love is near the river and bridges. Take a walk on the Johnny Cash Trail, ride your bike from the path into town, or sit and read on the rocks of the river bank. Cascade Falls Trail, Emerald Bay
This is a stunning hike! But who am I kidding, what isn’t stunning in Tahoe? AllTrails recommended this as a 1.4 mile moderate to easy hike and kid friendly. In the summer, I would agree. Understandably, winter presents more of a challenge. A lot of ice right now and not a lot of room for mistakes. Keep dogs on the leash and young kids in hand or the pack.
